The Clemson football coaching staff is only actively recruiting one defensive tackle in the 2021 cycle and that’s 5-star DT Payton Page.

The Clemson football program has only made one offer in the 2021 recruiting cycle for defensive tackle and that was to 5-star DT Payton Page.

Page, a North Carolina native, is currently listed at 6-foot-4, 315 pounds and is considered the No. 1 defensive tackle in the nation. Page is ranked as the No. 28 overall player in the nation, according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Player Rankings.

Because of him being the sole offer and the fact that Clemson football is only planning on taking one defensive tackle in this class, we can clearly see that the Tigers are ‘All-In’ on picking up the 5-star recruit.

When you watch film on Page, you see an explosive and dominant interior lineman. He’s reminiscent- in many ways- to Dexter Lawrence. He is a powerful space-eater who can take on blocks, overpower offensive linemen and stuff the run. Page also has solid technique and shows great explosiveness coming out of his stance, which will bode well for him at the next level.

Currently, Page is still working through the recruiting process, but seems like he’ll be coming to a decision sooner rather than later. He’s expected to take a few visits through the spring and summer and may very well announce prior to the Early National Signing Period.

The key for the Clemson football coaching staff will be getting him back on campus and allowing him to reconnect with 5-star DE Korey Foreman– who committed to the Tigers earlier this year. The two reportedly spent a lot of time together and could develop nice chemistry as teammates along the defensive line.

The Clemson football program is sold-out to coming away with Page at defensive tackle and it will be interesting to see if the coaching staff comes away with a commitment before it’s all said and done.
