Clemson Football: OT Jackson Carman is being overlooked nationally
Though the Clemson football program is gaining respect from NFL scouts, many national analysts continue to overlook stars for the Tigers.
The Clemson football program is churning out NFL talent left-and-right and this 2020 season may be one of the best in its history.
The Tigers have several players with first-round capability and will, without a doubt, be in contention for a CFB Playoff berth and an opportunity to compete for another National Championship.
One of the stars for Clemson football who is being overlooked immensely is OT Jackson Carman.
As national organizations release their preseason All-American lists, Carman’s name is nowhere to be found. Athlon Sports released a list of the top-50 players in the nation Tuesday morning and Carman only received ‘honorable mention’ status while seven offensive linemen were named ahead of him.
The fact of the matter is that Carman was one of the top performers in the nation last season as a true-sophomore.
Now, he’s going to be a leader on that offensive line and there’s no reason to believe he’ll take a step backwards. He has elite size and footwork, as well as great technique. Carman played well on the biggest stage of them all against DE Chase Young– who is slated to be the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Though Clemson football dropped the game against LSU, Carman still had a solid performance against some of LSU’s top pass-rushers.
As we headed into the 2020 offseason, it was an expectation from Clemson football circles that Carman would be a preseason All-American and that he’d be considered one of the top offensive linemen in the nation.
Instead, he’s being overlooked and that’s really going to be a good thing moving forward. Carman has an opportunity to be a first-rounder in next year’s draft if he declares after his junior season and it’s going to be interesting to see how he performs this season despite the oversight from many national publications.
