The Clemson football team will have a couple of weeks of Mat drills before hitting the practice field for the beginning of spring practice 2020.
Clemson football fans will have an opportunity to hear about spring practice slightly earlier than normal this coming year.
The Tigers are set to begin Mat Drills Wednesday, February 12 and will start spring practice shortly thereafter.
Here’s a look at dates you need to know for the spring and what to expect as we head into spring practice.
Notable Spring Practice Dates:
- Wednesday, February 26 (Start of Spring Practice)
- Saturday, April 4 (Orange & White Spring Game)
Spring Practice will begin in just a couple of weeks and will span over the last of week of February, month of March and the first week in April.
Every CFB team gets 15 practice sessions, which includes the spring game, and everything has to take place in a 34-day window but spring break and exam days don’t necessarily count towards that total. Only 12 of those 15 practices can have contact and only eight will be full-contact.
What to Expect:
Clemson will be looking to replace four starting offensive linemen off of last year’s team. That will be one area that the Tigers will be looking to address in-depth.
They’ll also be looking to sure-up some depth in the secondary with several departures and continue to build chemistry between Trevor Lawrence and his wide receivers.
Overall, one of the most interesting areas of spring practice may have to do with the incoming freshmen.
Clemson will have the vast majority of its freshman class already on campus as early enrollees, which means they’ll be able to participate in practice. It will be interesting to see how the freshmen adjust and who can make an immediate impact.
Rubbing the Rock will have a complete spring breakdown as we get closer to practice time.
