Clemson football fans need to appreciate the fact that the Tigers are competing in the 2019 ACC Championship game in Charlotte.

The Clemson football team finished with a perfect 12-0 record in the regular season for a second-straight year.

The Tigers have made four-straight CFB Playoff appearances, won two National Titles, competed for three National Championships and beaten in-state rival South Carolina six-straight times. As part of this run of success under Dabo Swinney, Clemson football has also won four-straight ACC Championships.

Because of the great amount of success, it seems that many Clemson football fans have grown stale on the ACC Championship game. After all, the Tigers are far-and-away the best team in the conference.

Despite the fact that the ACC Championship seems like an almost foregone conclusion at this point, Clemson football fans need to wake-up and realize just how important this is for the program.

The Tigers are currently on a run of success unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Clemson has already won four-straight ACC Championships, the longest streak in program history.

But Tiger fans need to remember that it was just a few years ago that they would’ve given anything to see Clemson come away with a conference championship.

Back in 2011 when Clemson football won its first ACC Championship in a span of almost two decades, Tiger fans lined retail stores buying up all the gear possible to celebrate. Now, there are many fans who won’t even make the trip to Charlotte because it’s inconvenient or they’re saving up for the CFB Playoff.

While it’s certainly understandable that no one can make every event, Tiger fans need to realize the magnitude of this event. It’s not just another game. It’s not just another automatic win on the schedule.

This is a goal that we’ve seen this team work hard to achieve all season long. It means more than many are giving it credit for and the key for Saturday across the fanbase, in my opinion, is to wake-up and celebrate this matchup for what it is.

Is it the biggest trophy the Tigers are pursuing? No. But it certainly is a trophy worth celebrating.
