The Clemson football team will host the Boston College Eagles Saturday. Here is our pick against the spread for the ACC Atlantic matchup.
The Clemson football team improved to 7-0 on the season last Saturday afternoon with a victory over the Louisville Cardinals.
With the win, the Tigers are now one step closer to achieving their next goal which is to win the ACC Atlantic Division.
The next test in their way? The Boston College Eagles.
Boston College heads into this one with a 4-3 record overall and 2-2 record in conference. The Eagles have a solid offensive rushing attack, led by AJ Dillon, but their defense has been lacking all season.
Here’s a look at our pick against the spread for the ACC Atlantic matchup between Dabo Swinney’s Clemson football program and Steve Addazio’s Boston College program. Our spread numbers are courtesy of the Action Network.
Pick Against the Spread vs. Boston College:
Current Spread: Clemson -34
Spread Prediction:
That 34-point spread seems like a lot for Clemson football to cover, but it’s certainly not unreasonable when you look at the amount of talent and depth the Tigers possess. It also doesn’t hurt to think that Clemson came out to a slow start last week and still ended up beating Louisville by 35 points on the road.
The Tigers have beaten the spread the last two weeks- vs. FSU, at Louisville- and I think that trend will continue this week.
Clemson is just the better team and I expect to see a more efficient performance from the offense this weekend after they struggled coming out the game last weekend.
Over/Under: 58
Over/Under Prediction:
The number at 58 is interesting. The Clemson defense likely won’t be giving up too many points, but I expect the Tigers to score quite a bit offensively.
This game feels like a 48-10 or 42-14 kind of game. The Tigers may finally have a breakout offensive performance and get into the 60s, but you have to see it before you can take it. That’s generally the rule, anyway.
With rain potentially in the forecast, I’m going to take this one to go under the number. Clemson will cover the large spread, but the defense won’t give up many points until late in the game, but the rain may impede the offense from getting the total to go ‘over.’
