5. He provided hope when there wasn’t much

As we said to begin, Dabo Swinney was a breath of fresh air in a program that was absolutely falling apart.

Though no one could see it at the time, Swinney had a vision for the program.

It didn’t happen overnight, but people bought into his vision because he was a great leader. Though no Tiger fan could predict what is happening now would happen, people believed in Swinney and he gave the fan base hope.

Clemson football fans saw him making changes for the betterment of the program and, all of a sudden, they saw things moving in the right direction. That never would’ve happened without him.

It’s one thing for a coach to take over a legendary program and have success. But, Swinney took over a program in Pickens County that hadn’t been nationally relevant in basically three decades and turned it into a national powerhouse.
