The 2018 Clemson football freshman class is one of the most talented in school history. Today, we continue our analysis with Jackson Carman.

Over the past few months, we’ve taken a look at several talented Clemson football freshmen.

The Tigers brought in what may be the best class in school history this past recruiting cycle and one of the “headliners” of the class was offensive lineman Jackson Carman.

Carman, who was rated the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio, surprised the nation when he chose Clemson over Ohio State on National Signing Day in December.

Since then, Carman has enrolled, gone through a semester of school and is now participating in summer workouts.

Analysis:

There are two different Jackson Carmans. There’s the one that plays at around 310-315 and there’s the one that plays at 330-350.

The one that plays at 310-315 is capable of playing the tackle position better than anyone. He is explosive, has great footwork, and is able to keep up with the fastest defensive ends that he faces.

The one at 350 is an absolute road grader. He still has great footwork, but is maybe a step slower than that of the one that plays at 330 or more.

What I’m interested to see is what weight Carman shoots to play at this fall. According to the depth chart, he will see playing time at both offensive tackle and guard. I think his weight will dictate just how much he plays at each position.

By the end of the season, I believe Jackson Carman will be a starter on the offensive line. Whether that be at the right tackle position opposite side of Mitch Hyatt or at one of the guard spots.

Next: Odds: Clemson or The Field for the ACC Championship?

Carman is everything you want to see out of an offensive lineman and I’m extremely excited to see him play this upcoming season.
