CLEMSON, SC - NOVEMBER 11: Travis Etienne
CLEMSON, SC - NOVEMBER 11: Travis Etienne

Clemson football will release a post-spring depth chart in the next month. Today, we predict how the running backs will shape out for the Tigers.

We’ve seen the last of the Clemson football team for a little while. The Tigers held all 15 spring practice sessions and are now getting ready for final exams before they head into the summer.

After a successful spring, Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney and his staff will be tasked with putting together a post-spring depth chart.

Over the next week, Rubbing the Rock will be predicting each position group’s depth chart outlook.

Today, we take a look at the running backs.

Clemson Football Post-Spring Depth Chart Prediction: Running Backs

Co-Starter: Tavien Feaster

Co-Starter: Travis Etienne

–Adam Choice

Analysis:

These are the only three running backs that I expect to be on the depth chart. I believe that both Feaster and Etienne will be listed as co-starters and that Adam Choice will be behind them.

The Tigers will add a fourth to the list in the summer when true-freshman Lyn-J Dixon arrives on campus.

I expect that Feaster continues to come out for the first couple of snaps, but I would predict that Travis Etienne gets more carries.

Adam Choice will also see time in the backfield.

I’d expect Choice to hold a lot of the third down and short duty and be tasked with providing good pass coverage. It’s also been teased out that the Tigers could have a formation or two that is run with two running backs.

That would allow an opportunity to get both Feaster and Etienne on the field at the same time.

It will be interesting to see how the running backs progress this summer, but this should be a really good group for the 2018 season.
