The Clemson basketball team lost in heartbreaking fashion in Tallahassee, Florida on Wednesday. What does the loss mean for the Tigers?

The Clemson basketball team surrendered an 18-point lead in the second half and couldn’t hit a buzzer-beater attempt on their way to an 81-79 loss to Florida State on Wednesday.

Talk about a heartbreaking and frustrating way to lose a game.

The Tigers led by 12 at halftime and everything looked to be going the right way before the Seminoles came roaring back.

Florida State didn’t even take its first lead until just a minute left in overtime.

It was that kind of loss…

This is the kind of loss that just gets underneath your skin. It’s one that you look back at and know that it should’ve been a win.

It’s the kind of loss that keeps coaches awake at night.

With the loss, Clemson basketball fell to 20-5 overall and 9-4 in the ACC. The biggest loss from tonight may be Shelton Mitchell. Mitchell suffered a head injury and was taken to a hospital for a CT scan. We wish him the best going forward.

Don’t go jump off the bandwagon yet:

Look, before you jump off the Clemson basketball bandwagon and claim that “the other shoe has begun to fall,” just take a deep breath and relax.

Clemson is still 9-4 in the ACC and in complete control of its own destiny.

The Tigers will look to rebound against Duke at home. Every single time this season that Clemson has faced adversity, the Tigers have bounced back.

I don’t expect anything different this time around.

As a matter of fact, I believe the Tigers will beat Duke on Sunday. Even if they don’t, they will still have a chance to finish in the top-four of the ACC. This does all hinge on Mitchell’s injury. We won’t know anything until tomorrow. Losing him would be a huge loss for the Tigers.

Next: Could Jackson Lowe be Clemson's next 2019 commitment?

So, essentially this loss doesn’t mean much in the short framework of tonight, but does give Clemson a little less breathing room moving forward in the games that it should win and there’s uncertainty on the future of guard Mitchell.

We will keep you updated, but don’t jump off the bandwagon yet, Tiger fans.
