The Clemson basketball team comes into February riding high. Here is our projections for wins as we head into the final month of the regular season.

The Brad Brownell-led Clemson basketball team comes into February riding high.

The Tigers beat North Carolina at home to close January and just beat Wake Forest on the road in Winston-Salem.

Currently, Clemson is second in the ACC standings with a 19-4 overall record and an 8-3 conference record.

Here’s our outlook on the rest of February for the Tigers.

Clemson Basketball Win Projections:

Current ACC Record: 8-3

How many remaining games? 7

Magic Number: 4

Schedule Projections:

  • vs. Pittsburg: Win
  • @ Florida State: Loss
  • vs. Duke: Loss
  • @ Virginia Tech: Win
  • vs. Georgia Tech: Win
  • vs. Florida State: Win
  • @ Syracuse: Win

Analysis:

I see a couple of losses on the schedule for the Tigers just because the nature of the ACC.

Right now, I project wins against Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, and Florida State at home and Virginia Tech and Syracuse on the road.

I think it will be tough to go on the road and win in both Blacksburg and Tallahassee. So, I chalked one up as a win and one as a loss.

The other loss I have for the Tigers is Duke at home.

The Tigers certainly can hang with the Blue Devils, and hopefully they’ll win, but I think Duke may be a little too much.

There’s not one game on this schedule that Clemson can’t win, but the nature of basketball is that, at some point, you will lose a couple.

If our projections are correct, Clemson would finish 13-5 in the ACC. That would be a good enough for a top-four seed in the ACC tournament and probably in the NCAA Tournament, as well. The Tigers are in prime position to finish in the top-three in the conference.

Next: 2018 Early Position Outlook: Tight End

I would look for the Tigers to finish either 12-6 or 13-5 at this point. The magic number for wins is four and there are definitely four wins on that schedule for Clemson basketball. The key will be staying focused, healthy, and continuing to build some of that young depth.
