The Clemson football team will travel to take on the Louisville Cardinals Saturday. Here is our pick against the spread for the game.

The Clemson football team will take on the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday in a pivotal ACC Atlantic tilt.

Louisville comes into the game ranked No. 13 in the nation with wins over Purdue and North Carolina.

The Cardinals are also seeking revenge after falling short to Clemson football in Death Valley a year ago.  Louisville is led by reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.

The Cardinals certainly have some troubles on the offensive side of the ball, but- behind Jackson- has had an explosive offense in the first two games.

Here is our pick against the spread for the Tigers’ matchup against Louisville.

Clemson Football (2-0 Against the Spread) Spread Prediction:

Current Spread: Clemson -4.5

Current Over/Under: 59.5

Spread Prediction: The line opened up at Clemson football -4.5. It has dropped some places to the Tigers -3, which means a lot of the money is coming in on the Cardinals.

More from Rubbing the Rock

Despite that fact, I will take Clemson minus the 4.5. The Tigers, in my opinion, will be able to take advantage of Louisville’s weak defense and score some points early. That will give Kelly Bryant confidence going forward and the offense will look a lot more in sync as the game progresses.

Louisville will score some points on the Clemson defense, as well, but they won’t be able to keep up as the Tigers’ dominant front-seven provides pressure on Lamar Jackson.

Over/Under Prediction: I went with the “under” last week and was correct by a ton. I believe you will need to stay with the “under” this week as well.

The Tigers, in my opinion, will hold Louisville to 21 or less. I think Clemson will score right around 30-35. Even if the max happens on both ends, the game would still only total 56, which is still three below the “over.”

For this game to “over,” one of two things has to happen.

  1. Clemson’s offense has to go for a ton of points
  2. Clemson’s defense has to be beaten up and down the field.

I don’t see the second one even being an option. If the game does go “over,” that probably means the Tigers won by a lot.

Only time will tell, but I will take Clemson football minus the 4.5 and take the “under” in my pick against the spread.
