Teams 5-3

5) Miami (same spot)

Record: 1-0

Recent game: defeated Bethune-Cookman 41-13 (9/2)

Like the Seminoles, Miami has had a few unexpected off weeks. They canceled their game with Arkansas State slated for this past Saturday due to fears of being unable to get back into South Florida after the hurricane’s landfall. Mark Richt’s biggest task, for now, is to get the team refocused on football, which won’t be easy with so many players’ families affected by the storm.

Next game: vs, Toledo (9/23)

4) Florida State (down 1 spot)

Record: 1-0

Recent game: lost to #1 Alabama 24-7 (9/2)

If there is any silver lining to the gray clouds of Hurricane Irma, it’s that James Blackman has received much more time to prep for the starting QB gig than most backups get when replacing an injured starter. After this past weekend’s game with UL-Monroe was canceled, the upcoming game with rival Miami was pushed to October 7, when both teams have a bye.

Next game: vs. NC State (9/23)

3) Louisville (up 1 spot)

Record: 2-0

Recent game: defeated North Carolina 47-35

News flash: Lamar Jackson is…still Lamar Jackson. The reigning Heisman winner threw for 393 yards and ran for another 132 in a win in Chapel Hill Saturday. Jackson accounted for all 6 of the Cardinals’ touchdowns, three in the air and three on the ground. Jackson’s stiffest test of the season will come Saturday when ACC foe Clemson comes to town.

Next game: vs. #3 Clemson
