The 2017 College Football season is finally upon us and so begins the process of tediously choosing whether to take the over or under on a game. Here’s my picks against the spread for week one.
There are not many big matchups this weekend, aside from Florida State vs. Alabama. As such, the spread for many of these games are fairly predictable. All of the current spreads are according to SportsBookReview.com.
Here are the College Football picks against the spread for week one.
NC State vs. South Carolina
Current Spread: +5 South Carolina
Spread Prediction: South Carolina is five point underdogs against NC State. I am picking against the spread here, because I believe the Gamecocks will beat NC State all together. I realize that the Wolfpack have a menacing front seven, however, Will Muschamp can coach some defense himself and I’ll take Jake Bentley over NC State quarterback, Ryan Finley.
Kentucky at Southern Miss

Current Spread: -12 Kentucky
Spread Prediction: Kentucky has the talent to surprise a lot of people in 2017. I love their duo of Stanley “Boom” Williams and Benny Snell Jr. coming out of the backfield. No disrespect to Southern Miss, but, Kentucky will win this game by at least 15 points.
BYU vs. LSU
Current Spread: +16 BYU
Spread Prediction: While I like new offensive coordinator, Matt Canada, LSU’s quarterback play is still lacking. BYU is always a tough opponent and they rarely get blown out. With LSU’s recent string of injuries and transfers, depth is an issue for them as well. The Tigers will win but not by more than 10.
Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech
Current Spread: -3 Tennessee
Spread Prediction: Yes, Tennessee lost the likes of Jalen Hurd, Derek Barnett and Josh Dobbs, however, they still have a talented roster. Quite honestly, Hurd was a distraction towards the end of last season. The Vols are a sleeper in the SEC East. Also, Georgia Tech lost it’s top three rushers from a season ago. The Yellow Jacket’s have neither the offense or the defense to keep this game within three points.
