Linebacker: Tre Lamar

Chad Smith, Kendall Joseph, Dorian O’Daniel, and Shaq Smith are all solid candidates to be named the “star of fall camp” at this position.

It seems that the entire linebacking corp has had a solid fall camp, but Tre Lamar has done something that I think is noteworthy: He won the middle linebacker position, according to almost all accounts.

Coming into August, it was a position battle between Smith and Lamar for the MLB spot and Lamar came out and proved just how good he can be.

He has run a lot of outings with the first-team defense and will be taking the field first for the Tigers. That, in and of itself, is good enough to earn the honor of being named the fall camp star at the linebacker position.

Of course, Dorian O’Daniel and Kendall Joseph will take the other two spots and they’ve both had really good falls as well.

I believe the Clemson football linebackers, as a whole, could be the best we’ve seen under Brent Venables and that’s scary.

These guys are nasty. They are headhunters and it seems that have a great grasp of the concepts and such going forward. I’m looking forward to seeing these guys take the field against Kent State here in just a week and a half.
