Defensive Back: Tanner Muse

The defensive backs bring back a plethora of talent, but also have to replace names like Cordrea Tankersley and Jadar Johnson.

The coaching staff has spoken about several different guys including A.J. Terrell, Trayvon Mullen, Van Smith, Isaiah Simmons, and a couple of other guys back there, but Tanner Muse was the most apparent.

Here’s a nice little three-play highlight reel that shows the physicality that Tanner Muse plays with and what he is capable of being at safety.

I know there are questions about Tanner Muse’s ability as an athlete at safety, but there’s no questioning his physicality.

He’ll be playing strong safety for the Tigers this season and that position tends to lend itself to allowing the player to be a couple of steps slower than the defender playing free safety, which will be Van Smith.

Overall, I believe Tanner Muse will prove to be a viable safety.

I think it’s a good thing that Clemson football fans haven’t heard much from names like Mark Fields and Ryan Carter. That means they are doing their job and getting it done. A.J. Terrell could also be a candidate for this spot as he has earned playing time and many are talking about him being listed on the two-deep, which means he would have had to beat out some really good talent to get there.
