No. 3 – Daivon Ellison (FS) Syracuse

Dino Babers found himself a star in the secondary in his first season as head coach at Syracuse. Junior-to-be, Daivon Ellison is one of the few bright spots of this Orange defense coming into 2017.

Ellison isn’t going to wow you with size, standing just 5-foot-8, 177 pounds. However, as soon as that whistle blows, he becomes one of the biggest players on the field. Given his size and surprising hitting power, Ellison is built in the mold of an Earl Thomas or a Tyrann Mathieu.

Check out Ellison’s highlights here.

As a sophomore, Ellison finished third on the team in tackles with 90 (57 solo), while also recording one interception and one forced fumble. He is a fearless tackler with startling closing speed.

While Syracuse doesn’t have the talent from top to bottom to threaten Clemson in 2017, this Tigers offense must know where Daivon Ellison is at all times. The phrase “keep your head on a swivel” was created for players like him.
