The Clemson football program has missed out on a handful of running back prospects recently, most notably five-star Zamir White. Though there is plenty of time between now and National Signing Day, the Tigers are behind the eight ball at tailback.

Must Read: Trio of Tigers commits' taking part in the Opening finals

In the past two months Clemson has missed out on three talented running back prospects, Master Teague III to Ohio State, followed by Lyn-J Dixon to Tennessee and most recently Zamir White to Georgia.

Missing out on Zamir White was not a huge blow to Clemson, as he was expected to end up at Georgia for some time now. The issue is the fact that Clemson has only offered four other running back prospects in the 2018 recruiting cycle, three of which are committed elsewhere at the moment.

The sole running back prospect who is uncommitted and holds an offer from the Tigers is Devon Lawrence, the younger brother of mammoth defensive tackle, Dexter Lawrence. The younger Lawrence is a sturdy, north and south runner.

While Lawrence is certainly talented, the Tigers must keep their options open should he decide to take his talents elsewhere. Here are a few prospects to keep an eye on.

Harold Joiner (3-star) Birmingham, Alabama:

More from Clemson Football Recruiting

At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Joiner is a large, galloping back similar to current Alabama star, Bo Scarborough. Though he is tall for a running back, Joiner has no problems making defenders miss in space. Clemson has yet to offer, however, they would likely become his leader if and when they decide to.

Nolan Edmonds (3-star) Alpharetta, Georgia:

Of the running back prospects Clemson is interested in, Nolan Edmonds is my favorite. At just a hair under 6-foot, 206 pounds, Edmonds is a load to tackle. He has the power to run over defenders and displays a wicked jump cut on tape. This former Minnesota Gophers commit does not posses blazing speed, however he has everything else you are looking for in a running back.

TJ Pledger (4-star) Chaminade, California:

Though TJ Pledger is currently committed to Oklahoma, the Tigers are still in pursuit of the talented California native. Standing 5-foot-8, 200 pounds Pledger is not overwhelmingly big, though he is an elusive runner. Pledger reminds me of former Auburn Tiger, Tre Mason due to his stature and playing style. With Pledger playing at IMG Academy with current Clemson commit’s Xavier Thomas and Mike Jones Jr. and Bob Stoops’ retirement, the Tigers may be able to gain a considerable amount of ground in his recruitment should they extend an offer.
