Friendship with Clemson commit Justin Mascoll

The role that relationships play in recruiting cannot be overstated, whether it be coach to player, coach to parent, or recruit to recruit. In the case of Darnell Jeffries, Clemson appears to have an advantage in the relationship department.

Jeffries is good friends with four-star defensive end prospect and current Clemson commit, Justin Mascoll. Both Mascoll and Jeffries hail from the fertile recruiting ground that is Georgia.

In an interview with Gavin Oliver of The Clemson Insider following the 2017 Orange and White game, Jeffries said the following of Mascoll.

"Justin is a beast of a player and I truly have a lot of respect for him and his game. Overall, just the kind of guy he is. We have a really good friendship, we played AAU basketball together when we were younger and we’ve been friends since then."

It appears that Jeffries relationship with Mascoll is something the Tigers are looking to utilize in his recruitment.

Already having Mascoll on board gives Clemson a tremendous advantage, because Jeffries is clearly comfortable with him. Jeffries would have no issues leaving home and coming to Clemson, because he would be with a childhood friend.
