There has been a good amount of speculation swirling that the Texans and head coach, Bill O’Brien may select a quarterback in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Which, if any, quarterback that will be is unclear, some experts say Pat Mahomes of Texas Tech and others think it will be Watson.

The closer we get to the 2017 NFL Draft, the more it appears that North Carolina’s Mitchell Trubisky will be the first quarterback off the board. Mayock has the Browns trading back up to 5 to select Trubisky. I think Trubisky is a good quarterback, however, the Browns are making a grave mistake in taking him over Deshaun Watson.

Fit-

If Deshaun Watson lands with the Houston Texans, NFL beware, he will have a Dak Prescott type of year as a rookie. Of all the situations Watson could land in, Houston is by far the most favorable.  Houston has a top-flight defense, a solid offense line and a wealth of weapons at his dispense.

The Texans are not a franchise looking to rebuild, they are a quarterback away from competing for a Super Bowl.

Other picks-

Mayock only has two other players from the ACC going in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Dalvin Cook of Florida State and Clemson’s Mike Williams.

Mayock has Dalvin Cook going to the Kansas City Chiefs with the 27th overall pick of the first round. The Chiefs would be a great fit for Dalvin Cook, he would have a chance to split carries with the likes of Charcandrick West and Tyreke Hill, which will allow him to stay fresh.

Lastly, Mayock has Mike Williams going to the Philadelphia Eagles with the 14th overall pick in the first round. The Eagles recently signed free agents, Alshon Jeffrey and Torrey Smith to pair with Jordan Matthews. That being said, Mike Williams could grow into their No. 1 option down the road.
