Nana Asiedu commits to Penn State-
247sports has Asiedu ranked as the 9th offensive tackle prospect and 82nd overall player in the 2018 recruiting class. Early on in the offseason, Clemson was viewed as the leader in Asideu’s recruitment, however, over the past few months Penn State gained a considerable amount ground on the Tigers.
Clemson’s effort in the recruitment of the nations No. 1 offensive tackle prospect, Jackson Carman, is likely the reason they lost momentum in Asiedu’s recruitment.
Losing Asiedu does not hurt Clemson’s recruiting class as they are in good standing with a number of offensive tackle prospects, including Jackson Carman, James Ohonba and Richard Gouraige.
Jamarcus Chatman commits to LSU-
A native of Rome, Georgia, Jamarcus Chatman held nearly 60 scholarship offers from programs across the country. Though Clemson had yet to offer Chatman, they had expressed interest in the bluechip defensive end throughout the offseason.
During his visit to Baton Rouge for LSU’s spring game yesterday afternoon, Chatman decided to commit to the Tigers.
Chatman’s commitment to LSU will not hurt Clemson’s 2018 recruiting class at all, as the Tigers already hold commitments from Xavier Thomas and Justin Mascoll, the nations No. 1 and 4 defensive end prospects respectively in the 2018 recruiting class.
Chatman isn’t the first and won’t be the last prospect that Clemson has to battle LSU for in the 2018 recruiting class. Both programs are also hot on the trail of prospects such as Tyson Campbell and Anthony Cook to name a few.
