Trayvon Mullen

Cornerback Trayvon Mullen has the ability to be the one of the nation’s best defensive backs in the nation during his career.

His talent is imminent and, because of the lack of depth in the defensive backfield, he will play a ton of snaps as a freshman. As a matter of fact, he will play the most snaps of any freshmen on the defense other than maybe Dexter Lawrence.

He and Mark Fields will share snaps at the cornerback position opposite-side Cordrea Tankersley and I fully expect him to- at the very least- earn co-starter honors before the season is over.

He is that good.

The Clemson football coaching staff is pushing him to his limits and, actually, made him go up against Mike Williams in 1-on-1 drills at practice Friday. They are preparing Mullen to go up against the very best in the nation because they know how vital he will be to the team’s success this season.

He reminds me so much of Mackensie Alexander on the field except he is a bit stronger. I expect Mullen to be one of the premiere freshmen in the country this season and he will be one, without a doubt, for Tiger fans to keep their eye on.

This a talented group of freshmen on the defensive side of the ball and I expect each and every one of them- barring injury- to avoid redshirting this season. They all have the ability to step in and play some valuable snaps for Clemson football this year and it will be interesting to see what happens throughout the rest of fall camp.

What’s your thoughts on the freshmen? Who do you expect to receive the most snaps this season? Comment below, Tiger fans!
