Clemson freshman sensation Seth Beer is the man with the smooth swing and the cool last name. As he continues to be nominated for national player of the year awards, I thought that it would be cool to find five beer slogans that I could associate with Beer and his season.

What would be your slogan for Seth Beer? I will give my five slogans from beer brands of the world and later give five slogans of my own.

Good things come to those who wait. The Guinness Irish Stout slogan is used every day and in all aspects of life. But for Clemson, there was a moment where Beer’s commitment was in jeopardy. He committed to former coach Jack Leggett and after getting the job, new coach Monte Lee had to get on the phone to make sure Seth still wanted to be a Tiger. Lee was patient, Beer enrolled at Clemson a semester early and now the Tigers are one of the hottest teams in the country.

Fresh, Smooth, Real. It’s all here(Bud Light). The freshman outfielder is smooth and plays with an uncanny, mature demeanor for someone so young. He finished the regular season with 15 home runs, a .378 batting average, and 60 RBI’s. Those totals have him respectively tied for first, fifth, and third in the ACC. Beer has failed to reach a base in only two of the 50 plus games this season and had a 26 game hitting streak.

Sooner or later you’ll get it. I know Dos Equis is saying that sooner or later you’ll get their beer, and I’m saying that sooner or later, Beer will get opponents.

Even though Beer had been a tough customer at the plate, since the beginning of the season, it took some game winning performances to truly get opponent’s attention.

  1. March 20th, a walk-off home run vs Boston College.
  2. May 4th, a walk-off hit vs Furman.

He was named the Midseason Player of the Year and Midseason Freshman of the Year by Perfect Game. Now when he comes up to bat in similar situations, Beer is walked.

1664. A Good Year for Beer. This is where my title came from. None of us were around for 1664, but Kronenbourg 1664 Lager‘s slogan is perfect for Clemson and Beer. His play greatly contributed to the Tigers being ACC champs and becoming a seventh seed in the College World Series. Where do I begin?

He’s the first freshman in ACC history to be named conference Player of the Year and of course, he was voted Freshman of the Year too. Then there’s his All-ACC first team award.

What about national awards? How about being named to the Louisville Slugger All-American second team, a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, and a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is the baseball equivalent to the Heisman Trophy.

Here’s to good friends, tonight is kind of special. Last night, the Tigers started off their regional with a 24-10 home run laced win over the Western Carolina Catamounts. They hit seven homers and Beer hit a grand slam to give them a 9-6 lead. That was his 17th home run and his second of the post season.

Clemson has already won the ACC championship and there is a long road ahead to a College World Series title. To win a national title, Beer and his teammates will have to continue their hot hitting ways and minimize errors which have been a problem at times this season.

More from Rubbing the Rock

The Lowenbrau beer slogan would be fitting for fans to celebrate and significant for the team from the upstate to set off the celebration. It was taken from the song, “Here’s to Good Friend’s,” which is a song by Arthur Prysock, who was a jazz singer from Spartanburg, SC. Lowenbrau will be hard to find but finding replacements won’t be a problem on such a special night.

Here are my five slogans to help promote Seth Beer.

  • The best non-alcoholic beer. Seth Beer is the, when you are leaving the bar at 2am and got pulled over by the cops kind of beer. Breathalyzer, ABC’s, walk the line, etc,-No problem!! By the way, he’s only 19.
  • A beer that can go the distance. 17 home runs and game winning hits in the 10th and 11th innings-Last call?
  • I bet you wish you had one. The awards keep coming and winning the Dick Howser Trophy would top off a successful year.
  • Any beer, by any other name, just ain’t the same. I’m sure parts of this slogan has been used in some advertising campaign before, but it’s unique to beer and appropriate for such a gifted player. Honestly, I don’t know any other Beer’s.
  • More Beer, please! Aww, the sound heard in bars around the world and today in Clemson’s Doug Kinsmore Stadium. Beer is a MLB prospect with at least one more season at Clemson, and I can hear the Tiger faithful now after next season-More Beer, please!

Clemson will face Oklahoma State tonight at 7pm on ESPNU. Get your beverages and popcorn ready, it should be a good game.
