4. Trevion Thompson still needs improvement, but is getting better

We all know what you have in most of the Clemson football wide receivers this season.

  • Mike Williams is the deep-boundary threat and probably the best route-runner.
  • Artavis Scott is the play-maker and a consistent guy.
  • Hunter Renfrow is reliable and will make the plays necessary to move the sticks.
  • Deon Cain is a home run threat and will make the plays downfield with Williams.
  • Ray Ray McCloud has been inconsistent, but is a lethal play maker and home run threat every time he touches the ball.

But what does Trevion Thompson do?

Thompson is expected to be a boundary-type guy, but has played a little slot as well. The coaches have been high on him the past two springs, but nothing really came of it this past year. In the spring game, we saw flashes of what Thompson is capable of.

The biggest thing he must work on is consistency.

If he can become consistent catching the ball, Trevion Thompson will vie for serious playing time at the receiver position for Clemson football this season.
