1. Deshaun Watson

The number one reason Clemson football will beat Alabama is the same reason that we gave you for Clemson beating Oklahoma: Deshaun Watson. Watson has been the key to this offense all season and will be the key against the Crimson Tide, as well.

He not only is the single leader of this team, but also has the ability to do something that Alabama has not defended well this season or historically: Deshaun Watson has the ability to run the ball as a quarterback.

More from Rubbing the Rock

I fully expect Watson, for good or bad, to run at least 20 times on Monday and this will be the difference in the game. Alabama has not faired well against a dual-threat quarterback and his legs are the key to this game.

Once he opens up the defense in the run-game, the passing game will come to life. The read-option will leave Alabama with a choice to either sell-out the run or respect the pass. Once the Crimson Tide decide, Clemson can take advantage of whichever Alabama leaves open.

Unlike ever before Deshaun Watson is the key to Clemson football’s victory. The offense will be looking to him for leadership, confidence, and to carry them through the game.

There’s no question how special of a quarterback Deshaun Watson has become and he will only get better.

So those are our five reason for Clemson football to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Championship game Monday night. Both teams are very talented, but I believe the Tigers will come out of Glendale, Arizona with the victory.
