Clemson Football News: Tigers Weigh-In as Fall Camp Opens
In your daily update of Clemson football news, all of the Tigers have reported to Fall Camp and weighed in. Check out some notable weights from the day.
Today, to start out the day at Rubbing the Rock, we wanted to do things a little different. Yesterday was the official “weigh in” day for the Clemson Tigers football team and this makes for some interesting conversations. Today, we are going to look at some of the weights of players from yesterday and give you some thoughts on what this means going forward.
Offense:
Firstly, Deshaun Watson weighs in at 207. That is three pounds more than last year’s weigh in, but from what I’ve seen of him over the summer, he looks even better than he did last year. He looks a little thicker and is still just as athletic as ever. You would have never known he ever tore his ACL and that is good going forward.
Kelly Bryant, the true freshman, weighs in at 213 and, in my opinion, looks similar to the part of a Cam Newton of sorts. He may factor in on the depth chart, especially is Nick Schuessler struggles out of the gate.

Another interesting note on the offense is the running backs. Every single scholarship running back is over 200, which is a first for the Tigers in a while. Adam Choice is down to 203, which may not be a bad thing as he seems to have become a little faster as a runner. Dye leads the running backs in weight as he is 213, one pound lower than that of last season.
On the offensive line, Tyrone Crowder leads the group with a team-high 323 pounds. Also, freshman Mitch Hyatt has weighed-in at 285, a solid weight for a tackle.
Defense:
D.J. Reader leads the defensive line with a weigh-in of 321 and definitely looks the part. Freshman Christian Wilkins is down to 299, which is about six pounds less than what he was listed his senior season. This may be part of him wanting to play some defensive end and will be able to move around a little more smoothly as a defender.
Linebacker Ben Boulware has added six pounds to his already impressive frame, which will help him be a force on the defensive side of the ball.
