ESPN’s Sarah Barshop recently reported that All-Pro quarterback, Aaron Rogers had good things to say about former Clemson Tiger, Deshaun Watson in an interview with WYFF-TV.

Read Barshop’s report on ESPN: Aaron Rogers says he’s a fan of Houston Texans’ Deshaun Watson

In talking with WYFF-TV, Rogers said the following of Watson.

"Obviously very talented. He had a fantastic career. Incredible last game (at Clemson). To throw a little option route right there on the goal line to his little receiver to win (the national championship) was fantastic. He’s had a great career."

Rogers was then asked about the prospects of Watson starting from day one in Houston. Here’s what he had to say.

"My hope for him would be that he gets to come along at his own pace and gets in there when he’s ready and has a great career, because like I said, I’ve heard nothing but good things about him."

It is clear that Rogers is a fan of Watson, which says a lot of about the former Tiger. For a seasoned veteran and NFL legend to sing the praises of a rookie quarterback who has yet to play a down in the NFL shows the respect he has for Watson.

It’s important to note that Rogers didn’t say what pace he expects Watson to develop at. I believe that Watson will pick up the offense fairly quickly, he has proven himself to be a highly intelligent quarterback, but, more importantly he has proven himself to be a tireless worker.

Take his time at Clemson for instance, Watson was able to graduate with a bachelors degree in communications in just three short years. Not to mention the fact that he had to juggle class time with practices, meetings, lift, etc.

Watson also put in a considerable amount of work in developing his body. As a freshman Watson was a lanky, 205 pounds. Fast forward to Watson’s junior season where he weighed in at 216 pounds and was noticeably thicker in the lower half of his body.

Everyone in and around Clemson is with Rogers in hoping that Deshaun Watson has a great NFL career.
