Cordrea Tankersley is arguably the best cover corner in this years draft class. At 6’0 Tankersley has the length to disrupt wide receivers off of the line and the range to play the ball well in coverage. Tankersley was a nightmare for opposing quarterback’s as a senior, according to pro football focus, Tankersley allowed just 259 yards and one touchdown on the year, as well as 42.2 quarterback rating.

Tankersley displayed solid ball skills during his time at Clemson, recording nine interceptions over the past two seasons. In fact, it was Tankersley who led the Tigers in interceptions in 2015, despite playing behind future second round pick Mackensie Alexander.

Expectations:

I expect Cordrea Tankersley to impress at the combine. There are no glaring holes in any aspect of Tankersley’s game, he has the size, speed, and coverage skills. I expect Tankersley to do well in the interview portion of the combine as well. Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables is known for his elaborate game plans, so Tankersley has a thorough understanding of coverages and defensive schemes.

There is a premium placed on defensive backs in the NFL, due to the high powered arial attacks throughout the league. I cannot see Cordrea Tankersley falling out of the first round.
