After playing in the rain the last two games, Clemson football beat Boston College 34-17 and showed the nation what it could do in better conditions. Even though the offense had 537 total yards against Ga.Tech in the rain versus 532 against BC. The yards put up against the #1 ranked BC defense was more impressive especially considering that Watson aired it out to the tune of 420 yards. Up until this game, the passing offense was considered to be dormant but ready when needed.
How good has BC’s defense been this season?
Just look at the total yards given up from their last four games and it should be easy to see why the Tigers yards on Saturday were so remarkable.
- 217 total yards in a 14-0 loss to FSU.
- 153 total yards against NIU in a 17-14 win.
- 228 total yards for Duke in their 9-7 win over BC.
- 142 total yards in a 3-0 loss to Wake Forest.
Not only did Clemson football rack up yards but the points were far and away larger than any of the last four opponents. Of course, BC scored more points on the Tigers but 10 points came off the only turnovers of the game and that was the opposite of their last four games. They had four turnovers versus Wake, one versus Duke and NIU, and two versus FSU in which one was a fumble returned for a touchdown. So FSU only scored one offensive touchdown in the game.

Player of the Game. Deshaun Watson. Watson finished the game with 420 yards passing on 41 attempts. He also threw 3 touchdown passes and two interceptions. What makes him my player of the game is not his stats but his toughness and perseverance. He missed on deep balls that he normally hits and he was pounded by BC pass rushers regularly. But he kept his composure and just showed a killer instinct in the second half and led his team to victory.
Next up. Miami is 4-2 and undefeated at home this season. Think of Louisville with a better quarterback. The Canes are talented on offense and defense.
The offense is driven by true sophomore Brad Kaaya who leads the ACC in total offense, passing yards per game, pass completions, and pass attempts. He is supported by RB Joseph Yearby(517 yards and 5 TDS) and a group of tall, athletic receivers.
The defense is solid and filled with four and five star recruits. Unfortunately, they lost their leading tackler LB Raphael Kirby to a season ending injury last week so CB Artie Burns is now the star of this unit. Burns has an ACC leading 5 interceptions and will likely draw the assignment of covering WR Artavis Scott.
Players to watch for each team. Miami punt returner Corn Elder is averaging 14 yards a return and the Tigers better stay in their coverage lanes or they might find Corn in the end zone.
Clemson wide receiver Deon Cain is showing that he is able to make the transition from high school quarterback to college wide receiver. He has only 13 catches but he leads the league with 20.2 yards per catch. Another good game for Cain could mean a win for the Tigers. (Assuming the rumors of him being suspended are not true)

Bye Felicia. QB Brad Kaaya is making a name for himself as a high profile college athlete and is on his way to a bright future as a professional. But he won’t be the first professional in his family. Have you seen the 1995 cult movie Friday? Or do you happen to know the origin of the phrase, “Bye Felicia”?
Well, Kaaya has heard about the movie all of his life and now he has to hear “Bye Felicia.” The crackhead named Felicia in Friday is Kaaya’s mom, actress Angela Means. There is a scene in the movie where she is repeatedly told “Bye Felicia”by characters Smokey(Chris Tucker) and Craig(Ice Cube). I don’t know how such a small utterance from a 20 year old movie made its way into 2015 but it happened. I bet there are days when Kaaya is thinking the same thing and wishes he could turn back time.
Felicia(Angela Means) will likely be in Miami on Saturday to cheer for her son and the Tigers may get a chance to really say “Bye” to Felicia.
