Brad Brownell is already back in attack mode, wasting zero time making sure the Tigers stay loaded for another run.
Portal season is heating up, and Clemson is right in the thick of it. The Tigers have reached out to one of the most exciting names out there: Christian Humphrey-Rembert, the 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward from Lafayette. Word is, plenty of programs want him, but after a freshman year where he showed he belongs with the best, Clemson is making sure he knows the Tigers mean business.
The Prototype "Brownell Big"
If you could build the perfect Brownell forward from scratch, you’d end up with someone a lot like Humphrey-Rembert. As a true freshman, he didn’t just get his feet wet—he owned his spot, starting 31 out of 32 games for Lafayette and showing he’s ready for the big stage.
His 7.7 points and 6.6 boards a night are solid, but what really has Tiger fans fired up is his shooting stroke. Humphrey-Rembert knocked down 37.2 percent from beyond the arc as a freshman. In the ACC, where you need bigs who can step out and hit shots, landing a 6-foot-9 sharpshooter like this would be a game-changer for Clemson.
High-Level Pedigree
Coming out of East Kentwood High in Michigan, Humphrey-Rembert was a three-star with a winner’s pedigree. He dominated his league, earning Michigan Player of the Year honors in the OK Red Conference after pouring in 19 points a game.
That scoring touch didn’t disappear at the next level. Humphrey-Rembert brought his blue-collar mentality to Division I, doing the little things—nearly a block per game, over 30 minutes a night—and proving he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty.
It’s early, but Clemson’s pursuit of Humphrey-Rembert shows exactly what Brownell wants: more size, more shooting, and more firepower for a team hungry to make another statement in March.
