EA Sports designed Clemson Football as a Top 10 program in College Football 25
By John Chancey
EA Sports made a lot of people happy with the announced return of the College Football video game series. The new edition will drop this July and it is the first since 2013.
As if the new game needed much more publicity than it has received, EA has decided to release some of the top lists for schools on social media.
Some of them are surprising. Well, okay, most of them are surprising. Some have made Tiger fans happy, others have them a bit beside themselves.
Here is a look at how EA has positioned Clemson Football in the new game.
Top 10 Toughest Places to Play
EA started this off on Tuesday by releasing the Top 10 environments in the game. These environments would be the most difficult to play in, and in theory are based on real-life considerations, such as attendance/size of the stadium and home records.
Clemson fans take pride in Death Valley being a tough place to play. It has been listed by many in their Top 10, but EA didn’t quite rank it that high.
The full list placed Clemson at No. 12 overall.
I don’t take much exception to most of the stadiums listed here, with a few exceptions.
I’ve not heard great things about Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, at least recently. That shouldn’t be a shock. The Gators have been mired in turmoil for several years. Oklahoma is not an environment I hear mentioned very often in Top 10’s either.
I think Kyle Field is a special college football environment and agree it is packed and crazy loud for big games. The thing I question is EA’s claim that the home record was considered in this calculation. If that were true, I doubt A&M would be No. 1. Top 10 perhaps, but not at the top.
I do think Clemson should be somewhere between 6-8 on this list.
