Ian Reed

Reed also missed most of the 2023 season, but injury wasn’t the reason for his lost season. Reed was dealing with an illness that he had before he came to Clemson, but it flared up in the fall and cost him a lot of development time.

The Tigers attempted to bring in transfer offensive linemen during this past offseason to shore up their depth but ultimately failed to gain any commitments. Depth is a concern for Clemson in Matt Luke’s first season as the offensive line coach. Both projected starting guards, Marcus Tate and Walker Parks, have had their share of injuries during their careers.

Because fans didn’t hear Reed’s name at all in 2023, many have probably forgotten he was there. His classmate from Texas, Harris Sewell, has grabbed much of the attention.

Reed is a candidate to be the guy that we didn’t see coming. It would not be shocking to see someone click with Luke’s teaching and make a jump we didn’t expect. It could very well be Reed. We haven’t even seen what he could have been under the man who recruited him, Thomas Austin, much less under Luke’s tutelage.

It takes a village to hold a line, and Reed might surprise us by grabbing a spot on the two-deep this season.
