Vic Burley

Per 247Sports, Burley was the crown jewel of the Class of 2023. He had the highest Composite rating of anyone in the group, including Peter Woods and TJ Parker. So what happened?

Tell me if you’ve heard this one before: Burley is under the radar because thus far he hasn’t been able to stay healthy.

He is a big guy, currently listed as 6’-4” and 315 pounds. Scouts noted he would need to fill out his frame but they also felt he could make an impact right away. When he was first injured early in the 2023 season, most observers hoped he could return in a few weeks, but the news soon circulated that Burley would be shut down for 2023.

Much like Turner’s situation, there are so many names who Clemson fans anticipate big seasons from at defensive tackle: Demonte Capehart, Payton Page, and even the often-injured Tre Williams. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that Woods lines up at tackle as often as he lines up at defensive end.

Every season, it seems like someone makes an impact at tackle that we didn’t expect, and this season it seems like Burley could be that person if he can stay healthy.
