Avieon Terrell

This is a name that Clemson fans who follow recruiting have known for a while. He was offered earlier than most prospects because the staff already knew him well due to his brother, AJ Terrell.

The recruiting services waffled on Terrell a bit. His rating fluctuated so it was hard to know exactly what his potential was.

At the beginning of the 2023 season, it seemed like Terrell was probably headed toward a redshirt. Fellow freshman Shelton Lewis seemed to have been the newcomer who was most likely to see playing time.

Away from the public eye, Terrell was doing what he needed to become a stronger, smarter player. By midseason, he was gathering more and more snaps. When injuries forced Sheridan Jones and Jeadyn Lukus to the sidelines, it was Terrell who won the starting job over Lewis and Toriano Pride.

Terrell held onto that spot with steady play. We hardly ever heard his name because he was doing such as good job of defending his receivers.

Terrell will most certainly have a starting spot in 2024, and for me, the question is whether he might become one of those cornerbacks we hardly hear about because he is rarely challenged, like Mackensie Alexander.
