Dabo Swinney will soon be able to add more coaches to his staff. Here are five candidates that we think are no brainers.

Tajh Boyd

Boyd is already on staff for Dabo Swinney as an offensive player development analyst, but with this new rule change, he could fill a larger role.

Specifically, he could be the quarterbacks coach. Riley holds that position now along with his offensive coordinator responsibilities and he should stay involved with their development. Nonetheless, with the ability to expand the staff, it makes sense to spread out the titles.

In my mind, there is a Big 3 of quarterbacks in the Golden Age of Clemson Football: Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, and Boyd. I’m still surprised to this day that Boyd didn’t get more of a look in the NFL.

One of the best ways to utilize this expansion of the hands-on staff is to have people work more directly with the depth players who might not get as much attention otherwise. For example, while Riley is working with Cade Klubnik, Boyd could focus his efforts on Chris Vizzina or Trent Pearman.

The Tigers also have Boyd’s successor, Cole Stoudt, on staff as well. As a fan and outsider, I point towards Boyd but the truth is Stoudt could be just as good of a coach.

There really isn’t a reason why you can’t have two quarterback coaches, after all.
