Heading into the 2025 season, Clemson football has arguably the best quarterback in the country.

Cade Klubnik is fresh off a career year in which he probably should've gotten more Heisman consideration after throwing for over 3,600 yards and accounting for over 400 more on the ground. In total, he had over 4,100 yards and 43 total touchdowns with just six interceptions. He was one of the most dominant dual-threats in the nation last year and probably would've been a first-round pick had he come out for the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, he decided to return for his senior season despite Clemson having a capable and ready backup in the form of former blue-chipper Christopher Vizzina.

And instead of transferring because of Klubnik's return, Vizzina decided to stick it out and learn for one more year before taking the reins in 2026.

Behind them is former unranked recruit Trent Pearman who was a walk-on in 2022 and will be fighting for a spot on the depth chart behind the aforementioned stars. Then there's incoming freshman Chris Denson who fans are excited about, but he has likely 2-3 years before he's going to contribute.

This is a really good quarterback room, and Pro Football Focus agrees.

In fact, PFF just ranked the top 10 quarterback rooms in the nation ahead of the 2025 season and Clemson came in at No. 5 behind LSU, SMU, Arizona State, and Florida. Obviously there's a legitimate debate for Clemson at No. 1 but the other rooms have backups with experience and some have just a multitude of blue-chippers waiting for their shot.

Still, Klubnik is the best quarterback in the country heading into the 2025 season and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better backup than Vizzina. Don't sleep on Denson, either.
