Chalk up another win for Dabo Swinney and the Tigers. In a recruiting slugfest that pitted Clemson against some of college football’s biggest heavyweights and bitter rivals, the Tigers showed once again why family and tradition still rule the Palmetto State.
Four-star defensive lineman Seth Tillman made it official Saturday, pledging his commitment to Clemson and turning down Georgia, Michigan, and in-state rival South Carolina. The Rock Hill native, ranked No. 133 nationally by the Rivals Industry, grew up dreaming of running down the Hill and suiting up with the Paw on his helmet. Now, that dream is a reality.
“Clemson has been a school I’ve loved since I was a kid,” Tillman told Rivals. “I’ve been going there since I was little. I’ve always loved Clemson. The people and the atmosphere have always felt like family.”

Georgia, Michigan, and South Carolina all threw everything they had at Tillman, but in the end, Clemson’s family atmosphere and the tireless recruiting of Nick Eason, Tom Allen, and Dabo Swinney kept the Palmetto State’s top defender right where he belongs. The Tigers simply refused to let this one get away.
Heading into his senior year, Tillman has become the kind of game-changer every coach covets. His high school coach raves about his throwback mentality and relentless edge—traits that set him apart from just about every other prospect in the country.
With his motor and physical tools, Tillman looks every bit the next in a long line of Clemson defensive linemen who made life miserable for quarterbacks on Saturdays—and then kept doing it on Sundays in the NFL.
But as fierce as Tillman is between the lines, those around him say his character and leadership off the field might be his biggest asset for Swinney’s program.
With Tillman now officially in the boat, Clemson’s 2027 class just got even scarier for the rest of college football. Swinney and his staff have been on a tear this summer, stacking blue-chip after blue-chip and outdueling the nation’s best to land commitment No. 25 in what’s shaping up to be a monster haul.
