Losing PJ Hall after the 2023-24 season was a massive blow to the Clemson basketball program.
The star big man started all 36 games for the Elite Eight-bound Tigers, averaging 18.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He shot 49 percent from the floor and while his 3-point shooting percentage dipped, he looked like a versatile big who could score inside-out and defend at a high level, too, averaging a combined 2.2 blocks and steals per game.
The 6-foot-10 forward and Spartanburg, S.C., product was hoping to be Brad Brownell's next NBA Draft pick, but that didn't happen and he was signed by the Denver Nuggets shortly after.
On Monday, however, he was released by the Nuggets.
Hall spent just one season bouncing between the Nuggets' active roster and their G-League team. He appeared in 19 games with Denver, averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds on 58 percent shooting in 3.5 minutes per game. At the G-League level, however, he showed plenty of promise, averaging 19.2 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 13 games with the Grand Rapids Gold. He also shot 49 percent from the field and 35 percent from deep.
With these kinds of numbers, it's not going to take long for another NBA team to take a chance on him and sign him to their Summer League team with a chance to make the G-League roster or earn a two-way deal.
Hall is a Clemson fan favorite and everyone was excited to see him team up with Hunter Tyson, but now he's looking for a new home with Summer League action just over a week away.
