Former Clemson right-hander Mack Anglin is getting another shot at pro ball, signing with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League, the club announced Tuesday.

The Frontier League, an official MLB Partner League, features 18 teams stretching across the U.S. and Canada, giving players like Anglin a platform to keep chasing the dream.

Anglin, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound flamethrower out of Marengo, Ohio, spent three seasons in Clemson. He barely got his feet wet as a freshman before COVID-19 shut down the 2020 campaign, but bounced back to become a key arm for the Tigers in 2021 and 2022.

By the time his Clemson career wrapped, Anglin had logged 139 2/3 innings with a 6-6 record and a 4.48 ERA. He piled up 164 strikeouts against 96 walks in 32 appearances, 26 of them starts, showing flashes of the power stuff that made him a draft prospect.

The Kansas City Royals saw enough to grab Anglin in the seventh round of the 2022 MLB Draft, taking him with the 205th overall pick. He went on to make 28 appearances in the Royals’ minor league system.

Most of his minor league innings came in 2023 with the Columbia Fireflies in the High-A Carolina League, where he posted a 2.29 ERA with 44 strikeouts and 27 walks over 39 1/3 innings in 24 outings.

In total, Anglin worked 45 2/3 innings in the minors, going 2-1 with a sharp 1.97 ERA. Injuries sidelined him the past two seasons while he was still under contract with the Royals, but now the former Tiger gets a fresh start in independent ball.
