Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft should yield the first Clemson football player selection

Over the past decade, Clemson football has produced the most NFL Draft picks overall and more than double the first-round picks of the next-closest team in the ACC.

Dabo Swinney has been a producer of elite talent since he's been at Clemson and that's not going to change any time soon, even if that means the six-year streak of having a player selected in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft breaks.

There's a good chance that Clemson won't have a second-round pick on Friday night which means the Tigers could have to wait a little longer to add to its lead atop the ACC for draft picks over the years. Miami closed the gap a little bit with the selection of Cam Ward at No. 1 overall, but Clemson has a handful of guys just waiting to hear their names called.

But who will be first?

The overwhelming opinion is Barrett Carter. The talented linebacker is expected to hear his name called on Day 2 as a third-round projected selection. He could probably even slide up into the second round after recording 82 tackles and 3.5 sacks this past season but barring some sort of reach, he will be a third or fourth-rounder, breaking that six-year streak.

But the wait for a Clemson player to be drafted should end later on Friday night as Day 2 rolls along.

After that, it's anyone's guess who will be next, but that won't happen until rounds 4-7 with guys like Phil Mafah and Jake Briningstool, among others.

Tune in on Friday night to see the first Clemson player selected in the third round (most likely).
