Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger. For R.J. Godfrey, that’s not just something you slap on a t-shirt. It’s the story of his journey, and now he’s living out the ultimate Tiger dream.

Wednesday brought the kind of news that makes every Tiger fan’s heart swell: R.J. Godfrey is headed to the NABC Reese’s College All-Star Game. The 6-7, 240-pound senior forward will suit up for the West All-Stars this Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. For those of us who have lived and breathed Clemson hoops, this isn’t just another line on his resume. It’s proof that sometimes, the best place to shine is right here in Tiger Town.

A Career-Best Campaign

Godfrey didn’t just show up for his senior year—he owned it. Coming back to Clemson, he put up career-best numbers, led the Tigers in scoring, and powered us to a third straight NCAA Tournament. That’s how you make a statement.

With his muscle in the paint and a much sharper offensive game, Godfrey grabbed All-ACC Honorable Mention honors. Only three ACC players got the call for this All-Star showcase—Godfrey, Lajae Jones from Florida State, and Quadir Copeland from NC State. That’s elite company.

The Mistake and the Masterclass

Godfrey’s path back to Littlejohn wasn’t easy. After helping drive Clemson to the Elite Eight in 2023, he listened to the talk about NIL and so-called better opportunities and jumped into the portal. He ended up at Georgia, but it didn’t take long to realize Athens wasn’t home.

Recalling a phone call to a former Clemson teammate after his first practice with the Bulldogs, Godfrey was brutally honest about his regret.

“I was like, ‘Man, what did I just do?’”

Godfrey started every game for Georgia, but something was missing. He missed the brotherhood Brad Brownell built and the electricity of Tiger Town. When Clemson called, he didn’t hesitate. He came home to finish what he started, and the payoff has been pure magic.

One Final Bow in Indy

Friday isn’t just another exhibition for Godfrey. It’s his victory lap. He’s living proof that home isn’t just a place—it’s where you’re lifted up and cheered on.

Watching him compete among theWhen Godfrey takes the court with the nation’s best seniors at 3:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network, every Clemson fan will feel that pride. Just a year ago, he was searching for answers. Now, he’s an All-Star and living proof that being a Tiger is forever.
