Offenses explode in the second half, Clemson rolls through Virginia
After scoring a combined 27 points in the first half, Clemson and Virginia's offense exploded, scoring 52 in the final 30 minutes. However, the Tigers were about to take care of business, winning 48-31.
When Clemson came out of the locker room, it looked like a team on a mission, marching down the field on an 11-play, 90-yard drive for a touchdown. The Tiger scored on the following three drives, giving up only seven points in the meantime.
However, after Clemson went up 31-10, Dabo Swinney pulled back on the reins slightly, and Virginia scored three touchdowns of its own in the fourth quarter. Most of the Cavs' production was in garbage time, making the game look closer than it really was.
It was a really good game for Klubnik as the starting QB for Clemson threw for 308 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. He raked in the yards by committee, with seven receivers gaining double-digit yards. Phil Mafah had himself a game, too. He rushed 18 times for 78 yards, with most of his production coming in the first half.
