Clemson nation shocked after devastating former Clemson Tiger injury P.J. Hall update

Tigers legend P.J. Hall was dominating the G-League before a devastating ankle fracture halted his rise.

Grit, motor, and that signature Clemson toughness—P.J. Hall has been showing the NBA exactly what Tiger fans have known all along: he belongs on the big stage. Just as our guy from Death Valley was locking down his spot as a future Hornets cornerstone, the injury bug showed up at the worst possible time.

It was a gut punch for the Spartanburg native and every Tiger fan watching—Hall went down with a right ankle fracture in the Swarm’s playoff opener against Maine. Jaylen Bridges came down on Hall’s ankle as he attacked the rim, and what looked like it might just be a tweak turned out to be the worst-case scenario.

If you watched Hall put Clemson on his back during that magical Elite Eight run, you knew he was built for the next level. After grinding through a developmental stretch with the Nuggets and Grand Rapids Gold, where he put up monster numbers—19.2 points and 12.5 boards—Hall made his way back home to the Carolinas, ready to show out.

Since joining the Hornets in December, Hall didn’t just show up—he made an impact. In 12 games for Charlotte, he set new career marks with 6.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, even in limited minutes. And in Greensboro, he was the guy, powering the Swarm to a 24-12 record and dropping a double-double every night (18.9 points, 11.3 rebounds).

Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer broke the news Tiger Nation was dreading. Hall was spotted in a walking boot just before the official word came down.

Boone reported the grim update on social media: "PJ Hall, who was in a walking boot yesterday, has been diagnosed with a right ankle fracture and is out indefinitely. No timetable given."

The timing couldn’t be tougher. Charlotte had just brought Hall back up to the NBA roster on April 1. He wasn’t eligible for the NBA playoffs on his two-way deal, but make no mistake—he was the heart and soul of the Swarm’s title push.

Now, it’s all about the comeback. At just 24, Hall has already shown he can beat the odds after going undrafted in 2024. If anyone has the Clemson Grit to fight through a setback like this, it’s P.J. Hall. The NBA playoffs will have to wait, but every Tiger fan knows he’ll return stronger and hungrier than ever.
