And just like that, Clemson's recruiting class for 2028 has doubled in size! On late Thursday morning, three-star tight end Wright Martin committed to the Clemson cause for 2028. He now joins four-star quarterback Trace Hawkins, who committed at the end of July, as the two pieces upon which this Clemson recruiting class will be built. Martin told On 3/Rivals, "I believe in Clemson; I'm ALL IN!"

The Christ Presbyterian Academy standout chose Clemson over Georgia, Ohio State, and SMU. The Nashville native is the No. 23 player from Tennessee, the No. 28 player in the country, and the No. 589 overall prospect in the 2028 class. He had 15 official offers, but has decided that Clemson is the right team for him. Martin's commitment has brought Clemson's recruiting ranking up to No. 24 overall.

It might not seem like much, but the Clemson faithful can finally exhale about the early stages of its 2028 class. Again, it had been only Hawkins for a while, with 2028 targets such as four-star legacy linebacker Jay Schell and four-star interior offensive lineman Sam Walker deciding to commit to Oklahoma and Georgia Tech, respectively. Martin committing is exactly what Clemson was in need of.

Who could commit to Clemson after Wright Martin joins the 2028 class?

Of the 28 prospects that Clemson has offered so far for 2028, only two have committed. With Martin coming aboard alongside Hawkins, it will be interesting to see who will be the next domino to fall. The next two players to keep an eye on would have to be Jackson Snelling and Kahmaree Crumity. They are both listed as "Warm" on Clemson when it comes to their overall interest, according to 247Sports.

Snelling is a four-star offensive tackle out of Sarasota, FL. This top-200 prospect has 32 offers, but it looks like Matt Luke is in the lead to land him for Clemson. He must beat out Florida State, FIU, South Florida, and UCF in-state to get him. As for Crumity, the three-star cornerback from Tallahassee, FL, has several schools listed as "Warm" for him, including Auburn, Indiana, Louisville, Miami, and UCLA.

As for whether the floodgates will open up for Clemson in the coming weeks, that remains to be seen. It did take two and a half months for the Tigers to pick up their second recruit of the 2028 cycle. That being said, it is no longer just one player committed; Clemson has a class going now! While it tries to hold its 2027 class together, even with linebacker RJ Hudson de-committing, this is all about 2028.

Right now, Martin's commitment does give Clemson some positive momentum moving forward with its 2028 class, no matter how small it may be. This just goes to show that Dabo Swinney and his staff still have tremendous pull from the high school ranks. Clearly, Clemson can still get its kind of guys out of high school. The big concern now is what they do with them once they arrive on campus.

At this time, Clemson's recruiting class doubling in size does take some pressure off Swinney's plate.
