Matt Luke is laying the foundation for Clemson’s future, and he’s doing it right here in Tiger Country.
Nobody’s outworking Clemson’s new offensive line boss, and now the payoff is real. On Wednesday, the Tigers landed in the final five for one of the Palmetto State’s crown jewels: four-star mauler Nate Carson.
Carson, straight out of Irmo, just dropped his final five, and it’s a who’s who of college football. Clemson is right there, shoulder to shoulder with South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. For a program built on locking down the state, keeping Carson home is mission number one for 2026.

Carson isn’t just another South Carolina kid—he’s a consensus four-star bulldozer. 247Sports has him at No. 168 in the country and No. 4 in the state, and he’s the type of tackle who can raise the ceiling for an entire program.
This recruitment has been simmering for a while, but now it’s boiling over. Carson first showed his cards more than a year ago, posting, “I will be at Clemson University tomorrow!!” back on April 1, 2025. Since then, he’s been a regular in the Upstate, and his time at summer camp showed he’s got the Tiger Grit Matt Luke is looking for.
Dabo Swinney officially pulled the trigger with a scholarship offer on October 23, 2025. Carson was clearly moved by the gesture, sharing on social media: “Blessed to say I have received an offer from the University of Clemson!!”
The Luke Standard
So why is Clemson all-in on Carson? Just turn on the film. At 6-4, he’s got that mean streak you love to see, burying defenders ten yards downfield and moving like a guard with elite hips. Whether he’s stonewalling a bull rush or clearing the way on a screen, he’s exactly the kind of tone-setter Matt Luke wants in the Clemson trenches.
A Pivotal May Date
The fight to keep Carson away from Georgia and the Gamecocks is about to hit its climax. Clemson gets first dibs, hosting him for the big recruiting weekend on May 29.
The Aggies, Vols, and Gamecocks will get their shot in June, but Clemson gets to set the tone. That first visit in Death Valley could be the difference between seeing Carson in Garnet or Orange—and we all know which one fits best.
There’s no doubt where Carson should be. Now it’s up to the Tigers to make sure he comes home.
