With the college football offseason being in full tilt after the conclusion of spring games, there is so much to talk about in terms of the unknowns on rosters, specifically Clemson football – who will play, who will contribute, who will redshirt, etc.

In this series, we will dive into who the players are in Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class, what they do well, and what I think their role will be for the 2025 season.

Let’s start with the gem of the class, Amare Adams.

Tale of the Tape

  • Name: Amare Adams
  • Hometown: Florence, S.C. (South Florence High School)
  • Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 285 pounds
  • Position: Defensive tackle
  • Average Rating (Max = 100)/Stars (Max = 5): 98.41/4.67 **Ratings are a composite score from 247, On3, and Rivals

Broad Analysis

Amare Adams' tape shows a strong, quick, twitchy athlete who knows how to play every position on the defensive line. At 6-foot 4 and 285 pounds, Adams already has the size to be able to compete at the collegiate level -- I believe they will ask him to play in the 295 range.

After watching his high school tape and some portions of his practice, I walked away thinking that Adams would be playing significant snaps, due to his innate ability to be around the football, his high football IQ, his size, and pure athleticism. Now, no player is perfect, so Adams does have room to grow, but most of his growth will have to come from reps and experience. If I wanted to be nitpicky, there's times where Adams plays with high pad level -- something that is very coachable.

Overall, Adams is an extremely polished freshman who's ceiling is the Ring of Honor and first-round NFL Draft pick.

2025 Contribution Level

Adams' floor in terms of contributions to the 2025 team is second in the rotation behind Peter Woods and Demonte Capehart. I think Adams will be early and often and teams will have to have a game plan for when big No. 95 trots onto the field. Three-technique (defensive tackle) is where I see him playing most and I wouldn’t doubt if we see him play some five-technique (defensive end) in goal-line and short-yardage situations.

Predicted 2025 Stats

  • 20 tackles
  • 5 tackles for loss
  • 2.5 sacks
