Clemson cruises to win over Morehead State

Claiming a victory over the Ohio Valley Conference's Morehead State, Clemson remains undefeated through three games.

Everything seemed to go right for Brad Brownell’s squad on Tuesday night. Clemson jumped out to a comfortable lead early and continued to build on it for the rest of the contest.

Coasting to an 83-56 win over Morehead State on Tuesday, the Tigers are now 3-0 in the young 2025-2026 season. Three Clemson Tigers finished with double digits in a game that saw 11 players get minutes on Tuesday. Out of those 11 players, only one Tiger, forward Dallas Thomas, was the only player who saw less than 10 minutes of playing time.

Returning to Clemson after spending one season at Georgia, RJ Godfrey had the second-highest point total for Clemson, finishing with 13 points. Godfrey also managed to pull down 11 rebounds in his double-double effort against Morehead State on Tuesday night. Tuesday’s double-double was Godfrey’s first double-double this season and third of his career.

Leading scorer on Tuesday night, forward Jake Wahlin recorded 14 points for Clemson, also adding four rebounds and two assists. The 6’10” forward who transferred to Clemson this season shot 4-6 (66%) from behind the three-point line on Tuesday. Finishing 5-7 (71.4%) from the floor, the Utah transfer had a great shooting game against the Ohio Valley Conference’s Morehead State.

Ace Buckner was the third Tiger to finish with double-digit points on Tuesday. Buckner recorded 12 points, adding five rebounds, two assists, and one steal from the guard position. Making all of his two-point attempts, Buckner finished the night shooting 50% from the floor (4-8) but struggled with his three-point shot (0-4).

Stepping on the gas in the second half, Clemson managed to turn it on for the second half on Tuesday. The Tigers finished the first half shooting only 39.39% (13-33) from the floor and 33.33% (6-18) from behind the arc. After a much better second half, Clemson shot 55.17% (16-29) from the floor and 41.67% (5-12) from the three-point line in the final half of play against Morehead State.

Clemson will now turn its attention to preparing for Georgetown. Clashing with Georgetown on Saturday, the Tigers will travel to Washington, D.C., and play the Hoyas in Capital One Arena, the home of the Washington Wizards and the Washington Capitals. Saturday’s matchup with Hoyas will tip off at noon on Saturday and can be streamed on Peacock.
