Dabo Swinney and Clemson football just went into Ohio State's backyard and stole one of the top recruits in the Midwest for the 2026 class.

That's right, the Tigers went to Washington Court House, Ohio (yes, that's a real place), and landed four-star offensive tackle Adam Guthrie over the Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions, among others.

Huge win for Dabo and the Tigers.

Guthrie held over 40 offers and could pick from any one of the teams in the Big Ten, essentially, if he wanted to stay home to play college ball, but he chose to join the Tigers and become the next great offensive lineman to come through the program.

Wise choice.

While it would have been easy to choose the reigning national champs, Guthrie felt that he fit better at Clemson, stating "Once a Panther, now a Tiger" in reference to his high school's mascot.

Guthrie stands 6-foot-7 and 285 pounds so he has tremendous size and he knows how to throw that around on the field with athleticism as he also plays basketball. He plays both sides of the line of scrimmage but is projected to be an offensive tackle at the next level.

The mammoth offensive tackle from Ohio had official visits already scheduled to Clemson (May 30), Ohio State (June 6), and Penn State (June 13) but I would doubt that he takes the latter two still. There is a possibility that he does and if that's the case, it may make things tougher, but it looks like he's locked in with Clemson before official visit season even starts.

Guthrie becomes the highest-ranked commit in Clemson's 2026 class, listed as the No. 243 overall prospect and 20th-best offensive tackle in the class, per the composite.
