Busy doesn't even begin to describe the type of offseason Brad Brownell and Clemson basketball have had to this point. The veteran head coach has seen most of his team enter the transfer portal with Dillon Hunter being the only non-redshirt guy to return and he's also landed five transfers.
Gone as Del Jones, Asa Thomas, Jake Heidbreder, Christian Reeves, and Chauncey Wiggins via the portal and Chase Hunter, Viktor Lakhin, Ian Schieffelin, and Jaeden Zackery to the draft process.
In case you're counting at home, that's nine players from last season's ACC regular-season runner-up team that have departed, leaving room for some newcomers to fill holes just about everywhere.
Brownell has landed guys like RJ Godfrey (Georgia), Carter Welling (Utah Valley), Nick Davidson (Nevada), Efrem Johnson (UAB), and Jake Wahlin (Utah) via the transfer portal and all of them should be instant impact guys, but it doesn't sound like he's done just yet.
Still looking for some offensive firepower, Brownell has reportedly contacted North Carolina transfer Cade Tyson who had an underwhelming year with the Tar Heels after transferring in from Belmont.

At Belmont, Tyson was a star and one of the best sharpshooters in college basketball. In fact, he averaged 13.6 points and shot 41.7% from deep as a freshman and then averaged 16.2 points and shot 46.5% from 3-point land as a sophomore before transferring to North Carolina. With the Tar Heels, he played just 7.9 minutes per game and shot just under 30 percent from deep and averaged 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds.
While I don't think Tyson would have a monumental bounce-back at a fellow ACC school like Clemson, I do think the Tigers could utilize him more as a 3-point threat and a guy who comes off the bench to have an exapnded role compared to the one he had with the Tar Heels.
However, I don't know if this is anything more than a gauge of interest.
