Cade Klubnik doesn't get enough credit for his physical growth since year one

The annual Clemson football weigh-in took place this week as fall camp began and there were some interesting tidbits that came out regarding some key players' weights.

Everyone talks about Peter Woods or maybe even the young receivers who needed to add some weight and there was even a mention about Ian Schieffelin needing to update his height on the roster as he's about an inch shorter than he was listed during basketball season. But one player's weight update flew under the radar.

Cade Klubnik weighed in at 212 pounds on Wednesday when most of the team did their annual preseason weigh-in and while that's just two pounds heavier than he was in 2024, it's caps off the massive progress he's made since he got to campus as a freshman.

Klubnik was listed in the 180s on his 247Sports recruiting profile, but weighed in the 170s when he got to campus. Now, he's 212 pounds and has filled out his frame enough to take hits from ACC defenders and it's also a big reason he's able to run effectively without the fear of getting snapped in half by a big hit.

Gaining about 30 pounds over four years of college is what pretty much everyone does, but Klubnik's weight gain has been all muscle and it's helped him improve his game. He has more comfortability in the pocket, he can absorb hits, he can run, and he has more power behind his throws.

We talk all about the growth of guys in the trenches or added weights to receivers, but Klubnik's hard work has flown under the radar. But at this point, nothing Klubnik does should surprise us.
