Brad Brownell is at it again, reloading the roster for another shot at March glory, and you better believe the rest of the ACC is on high alert.

Monday morning brought more good news to Tiger Nation, as Clemson struck gold in the transfer portal by landing former San Francisco forward David Fuchs. At 6-foot-9 and 245 pounds, this Austrian powerhouse is exactly the kind of physical, skilled veteran you want anchoring the paint at Littlejohn. With one year left to play, Fuchs is set to make a major impact for the Tigers in 2026-27.

An All-Conference Anchor for the Paint

Fuchs rolls into Tigertown after a breakout season out west. He started his college journey at Rhode Island, earning 25 starts as a true freshman before finding his groove at San Francisco, where he turned into a true force in the WCC last year.

He put up 12.7 points and 1.4 assists per game, shooting a rock-solid 51.7% from the field and even knocking down threes at a 30% clip. But what really sets Fuchs apart is his work on the boards—he was third in the WCC with 7.8 rebounds a night and piled up eight double-doubles. That kind of production earned him WCC Newcomer of the Year and a spot on the All-WCC Second Team.

The recruiting sites might slap a three-star label on him, but anyone who bleeds orange knows better. If there’s a coach who can unlock the full potential of a smart, underrated big man, it’s Brad Brownell.

Filling a Critical Frontcourt Need

Landing Fuchs is a huge win for Brownell and his staff, who zeroed in on him weeks ago. With RJ Godfrey and Nick Davidson moving on, Clemson desperately needed to reload the frontcourt with size and toughness.

Things got even tougher in March when Carter Welling, the projected starting center, tore his ACL and will miss the start of 2026. But now, with Fuchs joining Samford transfer Dylan Faulkner, the Tigers have a frontcourt duo built to own the boards and protect the rim.

Punching a Ticket Back to March

Fuchs is the fourth big-time addition for Clemson this offseason, joining a loaded group of newcomers. He’ll team up with Notre Dame sniper Cole Certa and TCU’s Liutauras Lelevicius, who brings serious length and athleticism to the wing.

With Fuchs locked in, Brownell has just one spot left to fill. The table is set for Clemson to chase a fourth straight NCAA Tournament berth—a new standard for the program. Fuchs is the kind of tough, proven winner who can help keep the Tigers dancing in March.
